Vikings at Sunrise by Mary Pope Osborne

It was a very good book and I really liked it. It was about two kids that found this magic treehouse that could take them back in time. They had to go find a book in ancient Ireland. The Vikings came to capture people in the monastery that the kids had found the book in. The kids got away and managed to run back to the magic treehouse and get home safely.

Now I'm going to read another book in the Magic Treehouse series called Night of the Ninjas. It looks cool cause it's got Ninjas!

How to have good manners

**Note by mom giving some context**
We started reading and learning about Little House in the Big Woods. In the first chapter, we saw Laura interrupt her sister Mary and her Pa told her that it was not good manners. After that we read a book about interrupting.
**Now to Jonathan's thoughts**

If you talk to somebody while they are reading, that is interrupting them. And if you watching a movie, you should not put your hands up and talk loudly because that is very rude. If you are screaming and you are nearby someone taking a nap, that is bad manners.

I'm going to tell Nick that if mommy is working, we shouldn't run around screaming. That would be better manners.

The A says "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

There is this movie called the Letter Factory by Leapfrog that my brother Nicholas watches ALL the time in the car. It gives me nightmares. The letter R was at bowling and it broke my legs by ramming into me. Then when I fell down, the Rs all ran me over and killed me. This was after I was bowling.

I hid this movie from Nicholas so we don't have to watch it any more. Mom says I have to give it back in a couple of days because it's his favorite and it's good for him. But I don't want to because I don't want to see it any more because of my nightmare and it makes me want to throw up.

Asian Art Museum

Today we went to the Asian Art Museum on a field trip with Linda and Ian to see the Samurai exhibit. We saw really cool armor, swords, fans, and artwork that all belonged to one family from the past 600+ years. Their family crest was a pattern of nine dots called the nine planets. We went on a scavenger hunt to find the crest on as many things as we could. It was a lot of fun. The coolest place I found it was on the armor pictured here.

We got to see some cool stuff from their theater. My favorite was the monkey mask.

One of the rooms was set-up with a replica of a Japanese living room with kimonos to try on and even a samurai helmet. There was a lot of manga in there too. There was a go board in the room. I had fun dressing up in the clothes but the helmet was really heavy.
